A model predictive control approach for decentralized traffic signal control
In this paper, a decentralized control is utilized for the traffic signal control problem using model predictive control. A point-queue model is used with red-green signal transition times. A traffic signal controller is designed to minimize the queue lengths with information from the adjacent intersections. After the signal controller gathers the needed information from the adjacent intersecti...
متن کاملDecentralized Method for Traffic Monitoring
We propose a decentralized method for traffic monitoring, fully distributed over the vehicles. An algorithm is provided, specifying which information should be tracked to reconstruct an instantaneous map of traffic flow. We test the accuracy of our method in a simple cellular automata traffic simulation model, for which the traffic condition can be controlled and analyzed theoretically.
متن کاملDecentralized Synchronization for Wireless Sensor Networks
Decentralized Synchronization for Wireless Sensor Networks Due to their heavy restrictions on the hardware side, Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN) require specially adapted synchronization protocols to maximize measurement precision and minimize computation efforts and energy costs. A promising approach is given by the ”Firefly Protocol”. Inspired by the behavior of fireflies it is intrinsically r...

*1 IMT-Advanced: A standard positioned as the successor to IMT-2000 at International Telecommunication Union Radiocommunication sector (ITU-R). It calls for data rates of about 100 Mbit/s for high mobility and 1 Gbit/s for low mobility. *2 ad hoc network: A network in which several mobile terminals communicate without any dedicated infrastructures such as base stations or access points. *3 UWB:...
متن کاملDecentralized algorithms for sequential network time synchronization
Accurate clock synchronization is important in many distributed applications. Standard algorithms, such as the Network Time Protocol (NTP), essentially rely on pairwise offset estimation between adjacent nodes. Some recent work introduced more elaborate algorithms for clock offset estimation, which take into account the algebraic constraints imposed on the sum of offsets over network cycles, us...
